William Wild

William Wild is not the man above but the name of his music. William Wild is actually the name of an encouraging homeless man with whom Garrett Sale (above) had a conversation with downtown. After the long conversation Sale felt inspired to name his band after him. In the folk-rock genre, william wild has grown in popularity in the last few years up to even being booked to perform at Knoxville's music festival, Rhythm N' Blooms, this april. The band is comprised of singer/songwriter/guitarist Garrett Sale, drummer Aaron Hill, and base player John Knight. I chose this band first and foremost because I love their music. They have a great sound... very emotionally driven and airy. Another reason is that I know them and followed their progress up to recording their first album. I've seen them perform at the square room downtown soon after the release of their first album. They are a band I definitely prefer to listen to live. Garrett shares himself with audience and gives background to his songs. An influence in Sale's music writing was the death of his father a few years ago. On his website you can watch a music video that will shed some light on the relationship they had while he was living. Garrett Sale is a knoxville native  attended Bearden High School, and he lives here now. William Wild has now released two albums the most recent called Steady Now. My favorite song by his is Evening Blues. I'd encourage anyone to listen to them and see their performance at Rhythm N' Blooms.
